These carbon fibre sheets & plates are manufactured by Juno Composites using our proprietary α-FAB liquid moulding technology. Unlike traditional composite manufacturing techniques, α-FAB is an innovative process that increases productivity, delivers higher quality, improves mechanical performance, and reduces unit costs. The result is a void-free, structural-grade carbon fibre laminate suitable for demanding engineering applications.

This product is built from multiple layers of 3k 2×2 twill carbon fibre fabric (200 gsm) reinforcing a bio-based epoxy resin system, arranged in an orthogonal (0°/90°) laminate architecture. The laminate is manufactured to a typical fibre volume fraction (Vf) of 56%, delivering predictable stiffness and strength along the principal axes while allowing finer ply resolution than heavier-tow fabrics.

All materials are dimensionally stable and manufactured under our ISO 9001-certified quality management system.

Surface Finish (Standard)
All thicknesses and sizes of this 3k product are supplied Class C / Class B (Class C: moulded smooth tool surface; Class B: peel-ply, bonding-ready surface).

These laminates are structural-grade, not cosmetic. Full surface finish definitions are provided below.

Cosmetic surface finishes are not offered on this product.
If a visual-grade surface is required, please see our range of Aesthetic Carbon Fibre Veneers & Foils.

3k vs 12k Orthogonal Twill Plates
Both this product and our 12k orthogonal twill plates use the same twill weave architecture and orthogonal laminate design. The primary difference lies in fibre tow size:

  • 3k 2×2 twill uses smaller fibre bundles, resulting in a finer-appearing weave pattern at the same scale
  • 12k twill uses larger tows, producing a coarser-appearing weave

The 12k variant is generally more cost-competitive, while delivering comparable mechanical performance for many structural applications. The 3k option may be preferred where finer ply resolution, thinner laminates, or more detailed CNC machining are required.

Performance & Machining
The 200 gsm 3k fabric enables:

  • Higher ply count for a given thickness
  • Controlled thickness build-up in thinner sections
  • Clean, consistent behaviour during CNC machining, particularly for fine features and tight tolerances

These sheets & plates can be CNC machined into complex components or used directly as flat structural panels in motorsport, aerospace, marine, robotics, and industrial applications.

Why choose orthogonal (0°/90°) plates?
Orthogonal laminates are designed for applications where loads are predominantly aligned along two principal directions. By concentrating fibre reinforcement along the 0° and 90° axes, these plates provide predictable stiffness and strength where it is most effective.

They are particularly well suited to:

  • Flat structural panels
  • Load-bearing inserts
  • CNC-machined plates and tooling
  • Components with known, well-defined load paths

Compared to quasi-isotropic laminates, orthogonal plates:

  • Maximise stiffness and strength along the primary axes
  • Offer simpler, more predictable directional mechanical behaviour

If your component experiences significant off-axis or multi-directional loading, a quasi-isotropic laminate may be more appropriate due to its more uniform in-plane properties.

Ideal For:
– Motorsport structural panels and inserts
– Aerospace and UAV components
– Robotics and machinery: EOAT (End of Arm Tooling)
– Marine structural panels and reinforcements
– CNC-machined plates, tooling, and precision inserts
